WEDDING STORY

Newby Hall Wedding

Set within the beautiful grounds of Newby Hall in North Yorkshire, this Indian and English fusion wedding beautifully combined two cultures with a soft, romantic floral palette inspired by the surrounding gardens. Every floral design was thoughtfully created to complement both the vibrant outdoor celebrations and the elegant marquee reception, creating a seamless flow from the bridal bouquet through to the reception flowers and cake.

Inspired by the beauty of Newby Hall’s gardens, the flowers featured soft blush, lilac, ivory and fresh green tones, creating an English country garden feel while harmonising beautifully with the couple’s carefully chosen ceremony décor. From the bridal bouquet and buttonholes to elegant silver candelabras adorned with floral garlands, lower footed bowl arrangements and delicately styled cake flowers, every design was created to ensure each part of the day felt beautifully connected.

This beautiful wedding was also featured on Love My Dress, where the couple shared more about their wonderful celebration. Here, I’m sharing the floral story behind the day and the inspiration behind the wedding flowers I created.

Garden-Inspired Bridal Flowers

Inspired by the beauty of Newby Hall’s gardens, Meera’s bridal bouquet was designed with a soft English country garden feel, featuring romantic blush, lilac and dusky pink roses, beautifully complemented by scented stocks, delicate freesia, fresh greenery and seasonal blooms. The colour palette was carefully chosen to complement the couple’s Indian ceremony décor, ensuring the flowers felt beautifully balanced alongside the vibrant celebrations while remaining timeless and elegant.

Coordinating buttonholes were created in the same romantic style, allowing every floral detail to feel cohesive from the very beginning of the day. The result was a bouquet that perfectly reflected both the elegance of the venue and the couple’s vision, creating a seamless connection between the ceremony, reception and every floral design that followed.

Styling the Marquee Reception

Following the outdoor celebrations, the floral styling continued into the elegant marquee reception at Newby Hall, North Yorkshire, where every arrangement was thoughtfully designed to create a soft, romantic atmosphere inspired by the surrounding gardens. As a Yorkshire wedding florist, I wanted the reception flowers to flow seamlessly from the bridal bouquet, creating a beautifully cohesive look throughout the day.

Silver candelabras from my hire collection were adorned with flowing floral garlands to bring height and elegance to the marquee, while lower silver footed bowl arrangements created balance and visual interest across the room. Using the same romantic palette of blush, lilac and dusky pink roses, scented stocks, freesia and fresh greenery ensured every arrangement complemented the English country garden style.

At the base of each candelabra, I incorporated large white hydrangeas to create fullness, softness and impact. Their generous blooms formed a beautiful foundation for each centrepiece, adding depth while allowing the more delicate flowers to weave naturally throughout the design.

Finishing Touches

To complete the floral styling, I decorated the couple’s Marks & Spencer wedding cake using the same romantic palette of blush, lilac and dusky pink roses, lisianthus, gypsophila, waxflower, freesia and fresh greenery. Repeating most of the flowers throughout the bouquet, reception centrepieces and cake created a beautifully cohesive design, ensuring every floral detail felt thoughtfully connected from the beginning of the day through to the evening celebrations.

A Beautifully Cohesive Wedding

From the bridal bouquet to the reception flowers and cake, every floral design was thoughtfully created to complement the elegance of Newby Hall and the couple’s beautiful Indian and English fusion celebration. By carrying the same soft, romantic palette throughout the day, each floral element felt naturally connected, creating a timeless English country garden style that perfectly reflected both the venue and the couple’s vision.
